1. What we receive from visitors
Dark Market is an independent research and awareness initiative. We exist to inform analysts, journalists and security teams about anonymous online ecosystems — not to profile individuals. The data we collect is limited to what is required to keep the site running.
- Server access logs: standard request logs containing IP, timestamp, requested URL, user agent and referrer. These are kept briefly on a rolling basis, used purely for abuse mitigation and capacity work.
- Aggregated statistics: anonymous counts of pageviews and search queries, used to gauge interest across topics. No personal identifiers are retained.
- Form submissions: data you voluntarily enter into the contact form or comment form (such as a name or email address). We never receive your data unless you explicitly submit a form.
2. What we deliberately avoid collecting
- We do not sell, rent or share visitor data with advertising networks.
- The site has no third-party tracking pixels and no browser fingerprinting in place.
- No account, login or wallet is needed to read any part of the catalog.
- We do not record the .onion sites you visit outside this domain — that information stays between you and Tor.
3. Cookies on this site
The cookies used here are strictly functional — a session cookie when you submit a form, a preference cookie when you toggle a UI option. We do not set tracking or advertising cookies. Clearing cookies in your browser will not cut you off from the site.
4. Services from external providers
A few third-party services support the site for technical reasons:
- Hosting and CDN: our host handles incoming requests so pages can be served. They have visibility comparable to the access logs above.
- Web fonts: typography is served via Google Fonts. Your browser may pass your IP to Google during font loading. Blocking third-party fonts in your browser is supported — the site remains usable with system fonts.
- Search engines: the site is indexed by major search engines so that researchers can find the catalog. We do not control what those engines record about your searches.
5. Age of users
Dark Market is intended for adult professionals and academics. The content is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you are below the age of majority where you live, do not use this site.
6. Rights you retain
Local law may give you rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold and to object to specific processing. Because we keep collection minimal by design, in most cases we hold nothing identifiable. If you submitted a form and want your data removed, please get in touch via the link below.
7. Data security
We apply reasonable safeguards including HTTPS, hardened server configuration and routine monitoring. No service can promise total security, so please use your own caution when corresponding with us — especially across the public internet.
8. Policy revisions
We may revise this policy occasionally to reflect technology, regulation or operational changes. Material updates will be marked here with a refreshed "Last updated" date. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
9. Get in touch
If you have privacy or data-handling questions, please use our contact form and pick a relevant subject. We aim to reply in reasonable time, and form data is never used for marketing.
